22 Dec Looking Back on 2025
As 2025 comes to an end, it feels like a good moment to reflect on what’s been a busy, rewarding year for us at Romilly Financial.
As a team we’ve celebrated personal and professional milestones with Owen getting married, Richard completing not one but two Hyrox races, David rode the CARTEN for Noah’s Ark and Mandy celebrating 25 years at Romilly, to name a few.
We also saw plenty of economic change with interest rates starting to ease, volatile investment markets driven by global events and the recent Budget announcing ongoing changes to tax and pension planning. Our message has remained the same, that effective financial planning isn’t about reacting to headlines, it’s about focusing on the bigger picture when things feel uncertain.
Here are some of our highlights from the year that’s been:
1. Supporting our clients
Throughout the year, we’ve continued doing what we do best… supporting new and existing clients with personalised financial advice.
People come to us at all stages of life, whether it’s planning for retirement, thinking about the future of their family, navigating a big decision or simply wanting reassurance that they’re on the right track. Our focus has always been on listening first and tailoring advice around what really matters to them, and we’ve had lots of fantastic feedback.
2. Continuous learning
Our goal is to always deliver the best client outcomes and so we’re committed to always learning and always improving. This year we’ve continued to invest in developing our skills, knowledge and qualifications so that the advice we give is advice we genuinely believe in.
3. Supporting our community
Making a positive impact in our community is something we’re extremely passionate about and this year we were proud to support and sponsor a number of local causes and fundraisers, including:
- Craig Maxwell’s challenge – Craig and his team rowed 72 miles from Tenby to Cardiff ahead to raise more money for vital cancer research on behalf of Maxwell Family Genomics Fund.
- Sponsored shirts for the Speakeasy Club who walked 44 miles and raised £1,125 to improve mental health support in sport
- Penarth Cricket Club Charity Golf Day for Kidney Wales
- Supporting our good friend Rob Phillips taking on the National 3 Peaks Challenge raising money for the Youth Adventure Trust, an organisation that uses outdoor adventure and one-to-one support to empower young people to fulfil their potential and lead positive lives in the future.
- Mike Phillips’ annual golf day for Prostate Cymru
- The Paul Burke Memorial Golf Day with 2wish Cymru
- Donated to the Huggard Centre in Cardiff, Wales’ leading centre for adults experiencing homelessness in Cardiff and South Wales. We were proud to support and sponsor a number of local causes and challenges, including:
Being able to support causes that matter locally (and personally) is something we’ll always make time for.
4. Gaining industry recognition
This year we were delighted to be awarded Top Rated Firm status by VouchedFor, based on client feedback and named finalists at the Vale of Glamorgan Business Awards
Recognition like this means a lot because it shows that our approach to financial advice is genuine and makes a real difference to our clients.
5. Celebrating 20 years at our Hickman Road headquarters
Being based in Penarth for over two decades has allowed us to build deep, long-standing relationships with clients locally and further afield. Many of our clients have been with us for years, and some for generations, something we never take for granted.
Thank you to all our clients who have trusted us this year and to the Romilly Financial team for their integrity and the positive energy they bring to the office every day!
As we look to 2026, our focus remains the same, to provide thoughtful, personal financial advice, rooted in long-term planning and experience.
We wish you a happy new year.
